AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 29 OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATING TO HEALTH CARE INSURANCE.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE :
Section 1. Amend § 5209, Title 29 of the Delaware Code, by striking subsection (d) thereof in its entirety and by substituting in lieu thereof the following:
“(d) Any volunteer fire or volunteer ambulance company in Delaware may elect to participate in the health care insurance plans provided by the provisions of this chapter for paid employees. The full cost of such coverage shall be remitted to the State by the volunteer fire or volunteer ambulance company participating no later than the 1st day of each calendar month for which coverage is being provided. The benefits provided to such paid employees and the cost of coverage shall be the same as provided to state employees covered by this chapter. Any volunteer fire or volunteer ambulance company in Delaware participating in the State Group Health Insurance Program shall be governed by all provisions, rules and regulations of this chapter and the State Employee Benefits Committee.”
Section 2. Amend § 5551(5)d., Title 29 of the Delaware Code, by inserting the phrase “or a volunteer ambulance company” therein, between the phrase “volunteer fire company” and the phrase “in Delaware” as they appear therein.
Section 3. Amend § 5551(6), Title 29 of the Delaware Code, by inserting the phrase “, volunteer ambulance companies,” therein, between the phrase “Delaware State Housing Authority” and the phrase “and volunteer fire companies” as they appear therein.
Section 4. Amend § 5555, Title 29 of the Delaware Code, by inserting the phrase “, volunteer ambulance company,” therein, between the phrase “Delaware State Housing Authority” and the phrase “and volunteer fire company” as they appear therein.
