SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 64

PROVIDING THAT A JOINT SESSION OF THE SENATE AND HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES BE CONVENED ON THE EIGHTH DAY OF MAY, 1998, FOR THE PURPOSE OF RECEIVING AN ADDRESS BY THE HONORABLE WILLIAM JEFFERSON CLINTON, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.

WHEREAS, the Senate and House of Representatives of the 139th General Assembly of the State of Delaware are honored to receive a visit from the Honorable William Jefferson Clinton, President of the United States of America; and

WHEREAS, President Clinton is the first sitting president of the United States to address this General Assembly in its 222 years of existence as Delaware's independent legislative body; and

WHEREAS, Delaware is the first state of the great union of states, by virtue of its having been the first state to ratify the Constitution of the United States of America on the Seventh Day of December, 1787;

NOW, THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 139th General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the House of Representatives concurring therein, that the Senate and the House of Representatives meet in Joint Session in the Senate Chamber on Friday, May 8, 1998, at such time as may be convenient for the purpose of receiving an address to the Joint Session by the Honorable William Jefferson Clinton, President of the United States.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Governor of Delaware, the Honorable Thomas R. Carper, is hereby invited to attend this Joint Session.
