CHAPTER 385 - STATE OF DELAWARE - EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT PROCLAMATION

WALTER W. BACON, GOVERNOR OF THE SAID STATE

To All Persons to whom these Presents shall come, Greeting:

WHEREAS, An election was held in the State of Delaware, on Tuesday, the 7th day of November, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and forty-four that being the Tuesday next after the first Monday in said month, in pursuance of the Constitution and Laws of the State of Delaware, in that behalf, for the election of a TREASURER OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE.

AND WHEREAS, The official certificates or returns, of the said election, held in the several counties of the said State, having been duly received and examined by the Governor, it appears from them that the votes in said county respectively for such Treasurer were cast as follows, to wit:

John S. Isaacs 42,341

KENT COUNTY

Jesse S. Cooper 7,697

John S. Isaacs 7,377

SUSSEX COUNTY

AND WHEREAS, The said returns of the election as aforesaid, duly made out, signed and executed, having been duly delivered to the Governor by the Superior Court of said counties, and the Governor having examined said returns as aforesaid, and enumerated and ascertained the number of votes for each and every candidate or person voted for, for such Treasurer the result appears as follows, to wit:

George L. Biddle 364

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Walter W. Bacon, Governor of the State of Delaware, do hereby declare that Jesse S. Cooper has received the highest vote at the election aforesaid, and therefore has been and is duly and legally elected the Treasurer of and for the State of Delaware.
