AN ACT TO PERMIT THE LAUREL SPECIAL SCHOOL DISTRICT TO CONVEY TO THE TOWN OF LAUREL THE LANDS AND STRUCTURE LOCATED AT THE CORNER OF SIXTH STREET AND WEBB AVENUE IN THE TOWN OF LAUREL, LITTLE CREEK HUNDRED, SUSSEX COUNTY, DELAWARE, BEING MORE COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR SCHOOL.

WHEREAS, the Laurel Special School District (hereinafter “the District”) holds title to the lands located at the corner of Sixth Street and Webb Avenue in the Town of Laurel, Little Creek Hundred, Sussex County and State of Delaware, being identified as Tax Parcel Number 432-8.06-303.00 and described on the Boundary Survey Plan prepared by The Pelsa Company for Project No. Mo17-0816 (hereinafter “the Property”); and

WHEREAS, the Property contains an existing structure now or formerly identified as the Paul Laurence Dunbar School (hereinafter “the Dunbar School”); and

WHEREAS, the District has no need to use the Property or the Dunbar School for school purposes; and

WHEREAS, the District is willing to convey the Dunbar School to the Town of Laurel, but the District is prohibited from doing so by 14 Del. C. § 1057.

NOW, THEREFORE:

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE:

Section 1057 of Title 14 notwithstanding, the District may convey the Property and the Dunbar School to the Town of Laurel in exchange for nominal consideration. The conveyance shall be "as is", and the Town of Laurel shall accept the Property and the Dunbar School in their present condition.
