HOUSE BILL NO. 18

AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 14 OF THE DELAWARE CODE AND 75 DELAWARE LAWS, CHAPTER 25, RELATING TO HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMAS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE:

Section 1. Amend § 152(c), Chapter 1, Title 14 of the Delaware Code by adding the following phrase after “content area.”:

“Beginning in 2008, a State of Delaware Distinguished Achievement Diploma shall not be awarded to students graduating from any Delaware public high school.”.

Section 2. Amend 75 Del. Laws, c.25, Section 7, by deleting the phrase “Sections 1, 2, and 3 of this Act shall become effective on January 1, 2008” and replacing thereto with “Section 1, 2, and 3 of this Act shall become effective January 1, 2011”.

Section 3. This Act becomes effective immediately upon passage and signature of the Governor.
