Whereas,
Charles
Laymen Terry, Jr., former Governor of
the State of Delaware, died
on Friday, February 6, 1970;
and
Whereas, he devoted virtually all of
his adult life in
faithful
service
to the people of Delaware, rising to the top
position
in both the
Judicial
and Executive
Branches of Dela
ware's Govern
ment; and

ereas,

t
is appropriate that
the
people
of Delaware pay
tribute and
re
spect
to Governor Terry for his
l
ong
and distin
guished
career of public service; and
Whereas, funeral
serv
ice
s
for Governor Terry will be
held
on Monday, February
9, 1970:

me by the Constitution of the said State
in
that behalf, do order that Monday, February

1970,

be declared

OF
MOURNING
IN THE STATE OF DELAWARE
when
all
schoo

State Offices
and
State Agencies (except those required for public
saf
ety)
shall be
clo
sed
to enable all citizens of
the
State
of Delaware
to pay
respect
to
his memory;
and I further
declare
a thirty-day period of
mourning
through
out
the State
of
Delaware, said period beginning February
6,
1970,
when
all State Flag
s
shall be
lowered
to
half-
staff.
