CHAPTER 370 - STATE OF DELAWARE - EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the observance of National Music Week during the early part of May each year is entering its third decade, having been inaugurated on a Nation-wide basis in 1924; and
WHEREAS, nothing could be more appropriate than to foster, through Music Week, unity and cooperation throughout our country, the Western Hemisphere and among our Allies; and
WHEREAS, Music Week has always had a forward outlook, its purpose being not only to serve the present, but also to crystallize sentiment and mobilize the musical forces for still greater service in the future;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Walter W. Bacon, Governor of the State of Delaware, do hereby designate the week of May 7 to 14 as
NATIONAL AND INTER-AMERICAN MUSIC WEEK
and urge that greater emphasis be placed on music in our homes, local gatherings, and our communities during the 1944 Music Week observance, and that the schools, churches, civic organizations and clubs participate in a united effort to emphasize its value as a social, educational and cultural asset.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I, Walter W. Bacon, Governor of the State of Delaware, have hereunto set my hand, and caused the Great Seal of the said State to be hereunto affixed, at Dover, this first day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and forty-four and of the Independence of the United States of America, the one hundred and sixty-eighth.
