CHAPTER 356 - STATE OF DELAWARE - EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the One Hundred and Sixty-fourth Anniversary of the death of General Casimir Pulaski will occur on the 11th day of October of this year; and
WHEREAS, this hero who came from a foreign land in answer to the call of our colonies then fighting for liberty and independence rendered gallant and illustrious service for and gave the last full measure in America's cause for freedom; and
WHEREAS, it is most fitting and proper that each year we should pay tribute to the memory of this true friend of America; and
WHEREAS, by act of our General Assembly, October 11th of each year has been designated as "General Pulaski's Memorial Day";
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Walter W. Bacon, Governor of the State of Delaware, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the law of this State do proclaim
MONDAY, OCTOBER 11, 1943 as
GENERAL PULASKI'S MEMORIAL DAY
and I call upon all public officials to display the American Flag on all Government Buildings; and, further, I invite the people of our State to observe the day in churches and schools, or other suitable places, with appropriate ceremonies in commemoration of the death of one of America's loyal friends and heroes, General Casimir Pulaski.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I, Walter W. Bacon, have hereunto set my hand, and caused the Great Seal of the State of Delaware to be hereunto affixed, at Dover, this seventh day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and forty-three and in the year of the Independence of the United States of America, the one hundred and sixty-eighth.
