CHAPTER 30 - APPROPRIATION - STATE COLLEGE FOR COLORED STUDENTS FOR BOOKS AND EQUIPMENT

AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE BOOKS AND SCIENCE EQUIPMENT FOR THE STATE COLLEGE FOR COLORED STUDENTS.

WHEREAS the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools has set up certain standards to which institutions of learning such as the State College for Colored Students must conform in order to be fully accredited; and

WHEREAS the said State College for Colored Students has not been able fully to comply with such standards so set up because of the need for additional books in the library and additional equipment for the laboratories used in connection with the study of Physics, Biology, and Chemistry, and

WHEREAS the General Education Board has agreed to furnish the sum of Seventy Five Hundred Dollars ($7,500.00) to help supply the needs of the State College for Colored Students as aforesaid, on condition that the State of Delaware appropriate a like amount for the same purposes;

NOW THEREFORE be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of Delaware in General Assembly met:

SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of Seventy Five Hundred Dollars ($7,500.00) for the purchase of library books and science equipment for the State College for Colored Students.

SECTION 2. The said sum of Seventy Five Hundred Dollars ($7,500.00) shall be available for the purposes aforesaid as soon as the money agreed to be furnished by the General Education Board is made available for the like purposes by deposit with the State Treasurer of the State of Delaware.

SECTION 3. The money hereby appropriated shall be paid from time to time upon warrants signed by the President of the College, and the Secretary of the Board of Trustees for the State College for Colored Students, and approved by the Auditor of Accounts.
